Description
Explore multi-color stone lithography through the Sharpie flat method, an approachable and flexible process for adding multiple colors to traditional lithographic prints. You’ll begin by creating a key image on stone using traditional drawing, etching, and printing techniques, then develop additional color layers with Sharpie markers and transparent inks. The process offers a faster, more accessible way to build rich, layered color while maintaining the unique qualities of stone lithography.
Through hands-on demonstrations and guided studio work, you’ll learn the fundamentals of stone preparation, image transfer, registration, drawing techniques, etching, inking, and printing before progressing into multi-color printing. Along the way, you’ll experiment with color relationships, varied editions, and artist proofs while gaining a clearer understanding of the complete lithographic process.
By the end of the course, you’ll leave with an edition of multi-color lithographs, process proofs, and greater confidence working with stone lithography. Whether you're new to the process or looking to expand your printmaking skills, the course emphasizes experimentation, collaboration, and approaching lithography with curiosity rather than intimidation.

LOCATION: Unless otherwise specified, all courses are hosted at Manifest's new facility at 'M1' in Clifton at 3464 Central Parkway (see map and directions below). Manifest's new facility provides multiple studio classrooms, private lesson space, a darkroom, a film processing room, a state of the art printmaking wing, and a multi-purpose lecture and class meeting space as well as on-site parking, grounds, and exterior spaces in which to relax, discuss, and make art. The studios are outfitted with professional equipment, furniture, and study aids.

About the instructor:
Stephanie Berrie is an artist from Dayton, Ohio. She completed her BFA at the Columbus College of Art and Design in 2015 and her MFA at Texas Tech University in 2019. Berrie owns and runs her own printmaking studio in Northern Kentucky, Wild Berries Press, and co-runs studio collective, Spit Bite Studios, where she teaches printmaking workshops and hosts community events. She has also been an artist in residence at the St. Michael’s Printshop in St. John’s, Newfoundland in 2026, and was Tiger Lily’s Annual Working Artist in Cincinnati, Ohio from 2020-2021. She has exhibited her printmaking work across the nation, primarily in the Southwestern, Midwestern, and Eastern states and is an active member of the Mid America Print Council.
